Youth dies after alleged beating at South Garia drug rehab, family vandalizes centre in protest
A horrifying incident unfolded in the Aryanagar area of Belgharia on Monday evening, as a woman was allegedly set on fire by her husband and two of his friends. The shocking act, which occurred in broad daylight on Anupama Road under Ward No. 23 of the Kamarhati Municipality, has left the local community in shock and outrage.
The victim, a resident of Khardah, had reportedly been visiting a relative in Belgharia when the attack occurred. Eyewitnesses and residents stated that the woman's husband, accompanied by two accomplices, ambushed her on the road. The three assailants allegedly held her down, poured kerosene over her body, and set her ablaze.
The woman suffered severe burns on most of her body before residents intervened and alerted the police. Emergency responders rushed the victim to a local hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment. Her condition remains critical.
Authorities have investigated the incident, with police from Belgharia working to apprehend the accused. The motive behind the attack is yet to be determined, though initial reports suggest it may stem from a domestic dispute.
